Everyone who visits your site wants to know what it costs. Almost nobody will ask.
They just decide you are probably expensive, or probably not for them, and go somewhere that told them.
Why most firms say nothing
The usual reasons are decent ones. Every job is different. A number on its own gets compared with a number from someone doing half the work. Publishing it hands your rivals a card.
All fair. None of it is a reason to say nothing at all, which is what most sites do.
Two different things
Publishing a price list and answering the price question are not the same. You can skip the first and still do the second.
What people are really asking is simpler than a number. Am I in the right shop? Is this a few hundred pounds or a few thousand? Will I be tied in? What happens if it goes wrong?
What you can say instead
How you charge. Fixed, by the day, by the month. That alone rules people in or out.
Whether it renews. People fear the monthly fee more than the first bill.
What is not included, said plainly.
How fast they will get a real number, and what you need from them to give one.
None of that is a price list. All of it answers the question behind the question.
What silence actually does
It does not keep your options open. It sorts your enquiries the wrong way round.
The careful buyer, who reads everything and would have been a good client, leaves because nothing told them where they stood. The one who fills the form in anyway is often the one who has not thought about budget at all.
Then you spend a week on a quote for somebody who was never going to buy.
Where we stand on this
There are no prices on this site either, and that is deliberate. Every job is a different size and a number without the shape of the work around it would mislead more than it helped.
What is on the site is the rest of it. Fixed price, agreed before anything starts. No retainer. What you do not get. A price within one working day of asking.
That is the standard worth holding anyone to, including us. Not the number. The absence of guessing.
